3 days until the Hillcrest Gala

Hey. Want to know a secret? Well, maybe not a real secret, but a secret none the less. There is this huge gala planned for Saturday and I am completely calm. Know why? Because this little non-profit I work at is completely GOD FILLED. There are these really cool things called 'volunteers' and they make up these other little things called committees and then those committees have this little thing called a "Gala Planning Book'. (I think, I am making that part up---but they might.) Anyway, there are going to be like 600 people (hopefully) at this Gala and I have not felt a bit of pain about this event this year. Sure, I wrote some stories and put together some scholarship plaques, and will find the picture frames in the shed (I hope), and be there to help register and break down the event when all the balloons have popped and aution items sold....but right now I am calm. I mean I am real scary calm. Like blow up a firecracker and see if I jump CALM. Then today YOU give me this.

Romans 4:4-6

If you’re a hard worker and do a good job, you deserve your pay; we don’t call your wages a gift. But if you see that the job is too big for you, that it’s something only God can do, and you trust him to do it—you could never do it for yourself no matter how hard and long you worked—well, that trusting-him-to-do-it is what gets you set right with God, by God. Sheer gift. David confirms this way of looking at it, saying that the one who trusts God to do the putting-everything-right without insisting on having a say in it is one fortunate man:

I'm sure there are men and women on this Gala Committee that would shoot me dead on the firing squad if they knew I was so calm. So, today I am seeing the rest of my families this week for case management and then.......jumping in and grabbing ahold of some loose ends and giving them a right good tug.

Thank you God for putting me in the middle of your STORY and working through me. Make sure I hear you and YELL if YOU want my attention. :0)
