Not really interested in having it hard. Nor do I feel like making my life harder than it already is. Not trying to stir the pot or smoke the pot or any other sort of mischief staring-making-tripping-type-behavior. There was a time when that was not the case. I have usually been the type of person who watched people. A PEOPLE WATCHER IF YOU WILL. I could sit and observe people at mall, amusement parks, workplace, restaurants, churches, playgrounds, sporting events, well you get the idea. I wanted to see what was acceptable and knew what made others stand out. Funny that it always seemed to be the people doing the right thing that stood out.
I was watching a show on the new OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network) that aired "What would you Do?" It showcased different social settings walking down a sidewalk-standing in line at the pharmacy-etc-etc. In each scene there was an actor doing something that others were observing and they either A) walked on by B) Did nothing C) stopped and helped D) noticed and still ignored the situation. It was amazing how rare the case that someone did the right thing. There was a child sitting on the sidewalk crying and asking for help and no one stopped to help. They kept right on walking. AMAZING! But, that was the norm.
10-11Who out there fears God,
actually listens to the voice of his servant?
For anyone out there who doesn't know where you're going,
anyone groping in the dark,
Here's what: Trust in God.
Lean on your God!
But if all you're after is making trouble,
playing with fire,
Go ahead and see where it gets you.
Set your fires, stir people up, blow on the flames,
But don't expect me to just stand there and watch.
I'll hold your feet to those flames. (Isaiah 50:10-11, The Message)
God wants me to get in the game. I am not here to watch, stir up fires, blow on flames, incite a riot, or walk on by. I am hear to serve and that is what I will do.
Dear God, I am leaning fully on you. I am a blow it and things are hard to see clearly sometimes, but I KNOW you are there and I am counting on YOU today. Amen.
